Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone to Ignite My Funny Bone

Wow, I never thought I would find myself making the attempt to be funny. Now, don't get me wrong, I can make people laugh - when I'm not trying. But tell me that I must be funny and it's a whole different ball game!

Well, that's exactly what's happening for me this month, I must ignite my funny bone so that I can deliver award-winning speeches for the District 30 Chicagoland Toastmasters Area and Division Humorous speech contests.

This is a new experience for me, participating in speech contests AND trying to be funny. Just thinking about it makes me laugh.

Now that I've gotten over the initial shock that I'll be representing my club on Saturday, October 3 at the Area Humorous speech contests, I'm actually excited by this new experience because it will take my speaking skills to the next level.

Not only that, my participation in these upcoming speech contests will help me to meet the goals of learning to be more purposefully humorous and of becoming a more involved member of Toastmasters International.

Wish me and my funny bone well.
