Today was an awesome day, for I proved once again that I could be funny by taking home the 2nd place trophy in the South Division Humorous Speech Contest for the District 30 Chicagoland Toastmasters.
This is quite a victory for someone, who, less than 12 months ago proclaimed, "But I'm not funny! Humor is not my strong suit."
Now, don't get me wrong, winning first place was truly the goal. Yet, the young man that won first place today, demonstrated a slight (and I do mean slight) edge over me by exhibiting just a tad bit more natural humor than I did.
It was such a joy to watch his speech because I learned some new things that I can do to make humor an even more natural part of me.
Now that I've proven to myself that I could be funny (which was always the goal), it's time to take my humor skills to the next level by using everything that I learned while competing in the humorous speech contests this year.

I look forward to competing again next year so that I can win first place at the club and area levels again, but this time, at the Division and District levels, too. Hey, I need the symmetry. This odd number of trophies on my shelf is bugging me. It's only fair that I go back into the competing ring to bring home all four first place trophies, wouldn't you agree?
So, stay tuned to see how my new humor skills touch your funny bone. You just never know when they will hit you in a naturally humorous sort of way.
P.S. Thanks for your prayers, encouragement, coaching, and support.
